(Novi Sad, 23/05/2025) – As part of an ongoing mission to enhance trade relations between Indonesia and Serbia, the Indonesian Embassy in Belgrade participated in the 92nd International Agricultural Fair (IAF) held in Novi Sad, Serbia, from May 17-22, 2025. Notably, over the past three years (2022-2024), the total trade value between the two nations has risen significantly, growing from US$27 million to US$44.2 million.

This year, four Indonesian companies joined the 92nd IAF to promote a diverse range of agricultural products. These included:

  • PT ICC Indonesia, showcasing palm oil and its derivatives;

  • PT Kurnia 5758 Abadi, presenting wood pellets;

  • PT Mayta Jaya Mandiri, featuring an array of spices; and

  • PT Effa Cipta Sejahtera, presenting cinnamon.

The participation proved fruitful, with several Serbian businesses expressing strong interest in the exhibited products. During the event, these companies signed letters of intent to purchase Indonesian goods, facilitated by business matching sessions organized by the Indonesian Embassy in Belgrade. The efforts culminated in commitments totaling €120,700 for products such as palm oil, sardines, wood pellets, and an assortment of spices—including cinnamon, black pepper, white pepper, cloves, turmeric, cardamom, galangal, and ginger.

On that occasion, PT Kurnia 5758 Abadi took part representing Indonesia in this exhibition by bringing the KurniaWood brand which produces Wood Pellet from Indonesia. In this exhibition, Kurnia Wood also succeeded in making an MOU with a Serbian buyer for the first export of Wood Pellet 20 MT.

Beyond tapping into the Serbian market, Indonesian companies are eyeing Serbia as a strategic entry point to the broader European market. Nurus Syamsi, Chargé d’Affaires ad Interim of the Indonesian Embassy in Belgrade, emphasized this potential, stating:

“Serbia is a candidate for European Union membership and already enjoys facilitated relations with the EU through the Stabilisation and Association Agreement (SAA). This presents a strategic opportunity for Indonesian companies seeking access to the EU market.”

The IAF stands as the largest agricultural exhibition in Central and Southeastern Europe. This year, Serbia partnered with Italy as the event’s Partner Country. The 92nd IAF was inaugurated by Dragan Glamočić, Serbia’s Minister of Agriculture, Forestry, and Water Management, and drew participation from over 34 countries and more than 1,000 companies, including representatives from Spain, the Netherlands, Montenegro, the Czech Republic, Hungary, and North Macedonia.
